My mom is going to try to stop smoking after 32 years. Any tips to make this easier for her would be great.
I don’t appreciate some of the first answers. She has quit twice to keep me and my sister healthy during pregnancy and breast feeding but she has always started up soon after she goes back to work. She did start back when everyone was stupid about smoking. My dad told me about being in the marines and getting four cigarettes with each meal.

im not addicted yet because i do not crave cigarettes.
its more of a habit to have one in my mouth when im in the car or just sitting in my room

The problem is that cigarettes are so readily available to me that it’s very tough and willpower and thinking of my health apparently aren’t enough. Any suggestions for mind tricks or tips or substitutions I can try?
I am 18 and have been smoking since i was a young teen. I have really pretty teeth and brush constantly to keep the effects of smoking off of them, some people don’t even know i smoke. But taking care of my teeth this much is starting to be a pain. I already tried to quit and it made me gain alot of wait because i replaced the cigarettes with food. Any tips on how to stop completely?

To get this complete program, please visit www.createspace.com . I cannot say why this program I made works, but it does. If You Love Someone Who Smokes iwas made to get a person to quit smoking. Everyday, thousands of people try to quit. Some succeed. Most do not. Statistics show that scary medical videos just don’t work. Neither do “you’re a bad person” videos. This film shows neither of those things. Instead, it tells the simple and profound story of two friends — NYC media guru Tony Schwartz, and NYC cop Ken McFeeley. As McFeeley was dying of lung cancer at 46 years old, he decided to work with Schwartz to make this film to help others quit smoking. To date, thousands have quit after hearing McFeeley’s story, and Schwartz became known as “media central” for the anti-smoking cause. “If You Love Someone Who Smokes” contains no medical details, no special “techniques” and it supports no specific drug solution. But for thousands of smokers, this video gives them the heart and the courage to quit– for the last time. The film does not scare or intimidate you. But once having seen it, you can never forget it.
Ok. Well me and my best friend got to talking tonight about how we don’t want our parents to smoke anymore. This turned into us completely attacking everything to do with smoking.
Ex.
Writing notes on her boxes of cigarettes and writing notes on them. Like on the open one I put a not that said, "Mommy, please stop smoking, you’re killing yourself." If she takes that off the note will continue to say, "So you’re gonna do it anyways?"
On her vase she puts ashes in we completely cleaned it out, and put a flower in it and a note that said "This is what it’s meant for."
We’re trying to think of more things to do. Please don’t do things out of reach for us. And if you do smoke. Nothing against you. It’s our Mommy though.
Anything helps. Please and thank you,
Sam and Jess.

A 2005 study of 72000 smokers from Europe and the US, reported in the Journal of Applied Psychology, showed that hypnosis came top as the most effective therapy in helping people to give up smoking.” Guardian Unlimited; 7 Jan, 2006 Twenty-six weeks after leaving the hospital, the results show that 50 percent of smokers who used hypnotherapy alone or in combination with nicotine replacement therapy, compared with 16 percent who used nicotine replacement therapy alone, became non-smokers. WebMD; 23 Oct, 2007 In 1992 a meta-analysis by Frank Schmidt and Chockalingam Viswesvaran reviewed 48 studies, covering 6020 subjects. They found that the average quit rate for those using hypnosis was 30%. Numerous studies have shown that the success for stopping smoking using hypnotherapy is much higher than nicotine replacement products. In 1968 Von Dedenroth reported in the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis a stop smoking success rate of 94% over an 18-month period. Hollywood celebrities Samuel Jackson, Ellen Degeneres, Matt Damon, Drew Barrymore and Ben Affleck have all used hypnosis to quit smoking.
