I am almost 20 and I been smoking a pack of newports 100′s for the past 7 years and I wanna quit. But it has been hard. I cant breathe when I run. I wake up coughin up yellow junk and I heard it ruins your sperm count. So any tips on quitting? Its getting to the point where Im stealin money from my mother to buy cigs. Anybody know any easy tricks to stop smoking???
Giving up something that you’ve used for 7 years will be tough, but can be done. Many people in my family have stopped smoking. And they had smoked for longer than that. I suggest you get rid off all your cigarettes (break them apart, flush them, get them gone so theirs no turning back), then pick something else you enjoy orally. Like jolly ranchers, gum, altoids….how about war heads? Each time you get an urge to smoke pop one. Or wash your face with cold water and remain calm because the urge will pass. You can distract yourself by turning on some fun music, calling someone for support (before you go for a cig, they can help talk you out of it), avoid other smokers and smoke if possible. If you find much pleasure in cigarettes….how about finding pleasure in other things….i know most guys like porn…so maybe try pleauring yourself when you need pleasure other than that of a cigarette. An odd suggestion, but i am sure it would take your mind off smoking a cig. Or theres video games. You cant smoke while doing that. Or try to learn how to play a musical instrument to keep your hands/fingers busy from reaching for that cigarette. I’ve never been a smoker, but i have other bad habits and I know as long as you distract yourself with something else you will forget about the bad habit and eventually (say 3 weeks) be free of the habit.
hahaha smoke weed so you wont get addicted, noob
Get rid of your ciggs. And dont accept any offers.
Ween yourself off of smoking with chewing tobacco. It worked for me.
Write down your reasons for quitting. You may want to take a look at some of the benefits of quitting.
2. Set yourself a date for quitting. Try and choose a date that will be stress free but when you can find plenty to do to keep yourself busy. Try and set a date within about two weeks of reading this.
3. Ask your doctor for advice. This is especially important if you have health problems or are concerned about issues such as weight gain.
4. Consider finding yourself a quitting partner relatives, work colleagues and friends are a good place to start. Set a date to quit together and you will be able to give each other support.
5. Tell your family and friends about your intentions. Ask them for their support before you quit and explain that you may not be yourself while experiencing withdrawal. When you reach your quitting date rely on those that have been most encouraging for support.
6. Think about starting an exercise program and a sensible eating plan. Again speak to your doctor or dietician. Exercise will give you more energy and help you to relax and relieve stress.
7. You should know what triggers your desire for a cigarette, such as stress, the end of a meal, drinking in a bar, etc. Avoid these triggers while you are trying to quit or if that’s not possible, decide how you will deal with the triggers.
8. Decide what you will do when you experience cravings. As we’ve discussed deep breathing, a short walk and keeping you self busy will help to take your mind off the cravings. Perhaps you can think of other ways. Write them down. Remember these cravings will only last for 3-5 minutes at a time.
9. If you have tried quitting before maybe you came across a stumbling block which we have discussed such as finding something to do with your hands. If so, you need to arm yourself with a solution to these foreseeable problems. Get yourself a pen, or stress relief aid to fiddle with, if occupying your hands is a problem.
10. Be positive and confident you can quit. You have spent time and energy planning how you will deal with the task ahead by following our tips for giving up smoking. Believe you can and you will do it if you persevere.
when you have the urge to smoke just do something else instead..take a walk or something..try the gum or patch.. but good luck with that!
Try keeping yourself busy, and as hard as it seems, try to reduce your time outside, because that is when it is most convenient to smoke, when you are just walking outside. Also, take a break from stressful things in your life. Tell people so that you have support in your decision to quit. Also it is good to make a list of reasons you should quit, that will remind you of your objective when you feel like you cant do it.
When you feel the urge to smoke, try drinking a glass of water. It will distract you, and keep your mouth busy. If it doesn’t work, what’s the worst that could happen, you drink some water?
